“At Home in His Heart!” What a beautiful invitation to us this month of February! It’s the month of “love” and who better to give our love to than the Heart of Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us in John 15:19 – “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love!”
In the picture above, Jesus presents His heart to us so lovingly. We could get lost just contemplating and pondering this image of Him. He gazes at the Heart that He wants so much to offer to us. We are invited into that heart where the best friendship in the world is found.
In the book, “He and I” by Gabrielle Bossis – Jesus poses this question to her:
“Don’t you come to Me with more confidence than to any friend on earth?
“Aren’t you at home in My heart?”
Jesus continues with these words not only for Gabrielle but for us as well:
“It should be that way too, since for each soul I am the unique, the incomparable One.”
On February 18th – Ash Wednesday – we shall begin the Lenten season for 2026. Might it be a good idea to ask Jesus for the “grace” to enter into this penitential season of the Church with “new eyes?” New eyes to see His love for us and in that “seeing” receive it and let it overflow to others on our path.
Everyday, our Father sends “new people” into our lives. Whether they be a cashier at a supermarket, a bank teller, or someone that we know – we spread the “love” that Jesus has poured into our hearts. Why? Because we have made “our home” in “His heart.”
A priest just recently used the phrase in our phone conversation of “breathing new life” into a prayer group. “New life” is a daily occurrence if we live in the heart of Jesus. Just not in a prayer group but in family life, in workplaces and the “love breath” found in every situation and place that we find ourselves.
Continuing on with the passage found in “He and I,” Jesus reinforces what “at home in His heart” truly means.
“You understand – in Me you can find everything: all the love you need to help you. So don’t be afraid of the One who loves you so. Unfold your trust like silk to clothe your request, and you will vanquish Me. My heart is easily taken captive by My little children. And you are all My little children. Any humble tenderness disarms Me.”
Can you imagine! Jesus Christ tells us through words to Gabrielle that “His heart is taken captive by My little children!” Hearts do not age if they are humble, childlike and loving. Where would we find those attributes but again – in the heart of Jesus!
Just the analogy alone can take one’s breath away. . .“unfold your trust like silk to clothe your request and you will vanquish Me!” What a meditation! Truly!
I can only say that this blog is one that Jesus sent me down to write today! Why? Because He loves each one of us in ways that we could never comprehend. He’s asking you to “enter into His heart!”
I had another plan this morning and it was to praise Him through a “Litany of Love” that Pope Pius VI wrote. I want to incorporate some of the first few lines of that “litany” to share with all of you….since the subject matter is “Love!”
This “Litany of Love” just might be the “key to His heart”….to make your home there this Lent and all the days of your life!
“With all my heart, I love Thee, O my God!”
“With all my soul, I love Thee, O my God!”
“With all my mind, I love Thee, O my God!”
“With all my strength, I love Thee, O my God!”
I absolutely love the picture above and it visualizes for us to see just what Jesus is asking of us – inviting us to.
“Love to be blind” He tells Gabrielle. If we enter into His heart…we grab His hand and let Him lead us!
I remember a “prayer experience” when I worked at a Jesuit Retreat House. Blindfolds were placed over our eyes and we let another person lead us around the room. It was a total trustful surrender not to see where we were going and to be led by another. Doesn’t that happen with Jesus when we do let go and let God lead us!
That prayer experience defines “home in His heart!” Definitely a “home” where everyday is more exciting than another and one can trust that whatever transpires in that particular day is of “His Will” and “His Goodness” for us excluding sin! Not one day will ever be the same if we live in His heart.
It seems like we were just in the liturgical season of Christmas and yet now we are moving so rapidly towards the season of Lent. There is no coincidence that Lent always falls in the same month as Valentine’s Day. It’s all about “love!”
Let us prepare like no other time! Let us clean our hearts with the Sacrament of Reconciliation as St. Mary Magdalene did! Our priests wait for us in the confessionals for truly they are “Persona Christi.”
If we accept His invitation, we will be “entering into His heart” but “He will also be living in ours!”
Here again “His” words of love to all of us…..through Gabrielle Bossis.
“Yes, before you fall asleep, lovingly and humbly confess the day’s faults and failings. What gain for you! And what eagerness to restore in the heart of your loving Savior.”
“You remember when Mary Magdalene had told Me of her sins, she stopped to ask, “after that, can I be forgiven” – I assured her and she went on. But once again she stopped and asked, “For this too, may I still hope to be forgiven? – Yes, I assured her. Then when all her past had been laid at My feet, she wept from love-gratitude, understanding a little, that is. For it is not in you to grasp the infinite.”
“Don’t you think fathers are happy when their little girls leave everything to them in simple tenderness?”
Let us prepare like no other time! Let us cleanse our hearts with the Sacrament of Reconciliation as St. Mary Magdalene did! Our priests wait for us in the confessionals waiting to grace our souls with absolution for truly they are “Persona Christi.”
He wants to breathe His love into us but He also wants to breathe in our love. Can we do that this month of love when the Season of Lent begins?
WE CAN!!!!
He tells us in 2 Corinthians – 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
And finally I close with these words that can be found in the beginning of Part One in “He and I.”
“Be assured by My loving-kindness that as others are blessed by these words, your cup of joy will overflow in the same proportion. Every reader too will receive the same measure of grace. And all will become members of one united family:
The Family of My Intimate Friends.”
Let Us Accept His Invitation
And Live In His Heart
Like No Other Time of Our Lives!

Thank you, Anita, for bringing us to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on the First Friday of February that we may give our hearts to the source of pure love for the whole world. May our hearts be filled with His pure love and radiate love to all.
