Dare Alla Luce – Give to the Light

“Dare Alla Luce” – is an Italian string of words meaning to “Give to the Light” or “Give Birth to.”  Although it is a name that Our Blessed Mother gave to a prayer group that prays specifically for Priests, Seminarians, Deacons and All Religious – tonight it seems to be the right phrase to use on this evening of Sunday, July 28th, 2024.

Just when we think the “final curtain” of darkness has fallen upon this mad, mad world – we are brought into further doom and gloom as we see Our Lord Jesus Christ mocked and derided in ways that we could never have imagined in recent worldly events!

Do we lose all hope and do we despair?  Do we get caught up in reading and looking at images on the internet that only further bring us down?

Absolutely not!  We go to the “video tapes”  a catch phrase for weather reporting way back when!

We go to Scripture with Jesus – we go to the Word of God.

He Opens The Door of Light

Yes, He most certainly “opens a door of Light” to us in Holy Scripture!  Here He tells us in John 8:12 the following:

“I am the light of the world; anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark; he will have the light of life.”

And what does Jesus say of the “darkness” in scripture. . .John 8:44-47

“The devil is your father, and you prefer to do what your father wants, he was a murderer from the start; he was never grounded in the truth; there is no truth in him at all: when he lies he is drawing on his own store, because he is a liar, and the father of lies.  But as for me, I speak the truth and for that reason, you do not believe me.  Can one of you convict me of sin?  If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?

A child of God listens to the words of God; if you refuse to listen, it is because you are not God’s children.”

The National Eucharistic Congress

Just one week ago today The National Eucharistic Congress concluded with a Mass of tens of thousands of people in an NFL football stadium.  In this arena where “football” is played with “defensive and offensive” teams – a declaration was “prayed forth.”  The crowd prayed for a “New Pentecost!”  Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle presided over the closing Mass and verbalized the following:

“Those who choose to stay with Jesus will be sent by Jesus.”

“Let us go to proclaim Jesus zealously and joyfully for the life of the world!”

We certainly aren’t playing the “Game of Football” – but something greater than that.  We are “praying” through the “Game of Life” not designed by the company of Hasbro but by a Loving God who tells us He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!  He is the “Mighty Goal”the “End Game!the Doorway to the Eternal Light.”

The “offense” made their move this weekend with a counter attack coming on the heels of the Eucharistic Congress and of a “New Pentecost!”  A mockery – a deriding of our Catholic Faith and an insult to our Lord Jesus Christ.  So what do we do?

Our Goal

Listen to the invitation that Jesus gives to not only “Gabrielle Bossis” in the book, “He and I,” but to all of us.

“When you are at My feet praying or meditating, why not be one in spirit with all the pure in heart who are praying and meditating?  You aren’t a little church all by yourself.  You are part of the great activity of Christ in the breath of the Spirit.  And in isolating yourself you would break the chain.  So be linked together with other fervent people and aware of My desire for you all to be one.  You remember My seamless robe?

Become humble enough to lose yourself in everyone else and eager enough for merits to seek to benefit by the merits of your brothers, since I permit this.

I am the Father who has found a way to help His children get rich quickly.  And having explained this to them, I wait for them to profit by it, for I suffer more than they do from their poverty.

Do you want to think more often of this daily union with all My Christians in the world at this moment?

The suffering ones, the persecuted, the abandoned, those in exile and in prison, those who are martyred for My Name’s sake,

the souls in ruined bodies who continue to bless Me, to serve Me and to call Me with all their love right to their very last breath?

Unite with them so that you may lose nothing of all this.  Try to grasp the fact that these new treasures bring you ever nearer to Me.

This is your Goal

To reach Me.

And I am so eager to have you that I stoop down, stretching out My two hands to you.  Don’t turn away.  It’s the proud who refuse a free gift.  How I long for you to do Me the favor of accepting My help.  I’ll be even tempted to say, “Thank You.”

Dispelling the Darkness

So we are filled with a mighty power to “dispel the darkness” aren’t we?  We know first and foremost. . .Holy Mass and Eucharistic Adoration and what follows is our devotions. . .mainly the Holy Rosary that helps us accomplish this goal.

Padre Pio made it clear that the rosary was his weapon and that the rosary never left his hands.  Our Blessed Mother told us “to put the rosary in our hands as a sign to satan that you belong to me.”

I heard once that the “Rosary” is like an extension cord that lights up the world.  Can you imagine….lighting up the world with the chains of our rosaries and dispelling the darkness of sin and error and the evil ways of satan and his minions.

The image above has always spoken volumes to those who gaze upon it.  One can see the ominous clouds –  but if you look up to the right of the image,  you see “pink rays” shining down from the Heavens.  The picture hasn’t been tampered with and it is the real deal!  And why is it so telling?  The man in the picture was perched upon the railing with something that wasn’t leaving his hands.  It was a sign that he belongs to the Blessed Mother – it is a sign that he is a Child of Light. . .it is a sign because he holds in his hands – Her Rosary.

Let it be a sign in your life and in the lives of all those you encounter!  Dispel the darkness with your extension cord of “light!”

His Love

Jesus Christ loves us more than we can imagine.  He left Himself in the Most Holy Eucharist until the end of the world to give us His Love – His Help – His Protection – His Care.  I end this posting of “light” and a “sending forth” with more words to Gabrielle from Jesus from the book, “He and I.”

Which of you will give Me the joy of being invited to your earthly pilgrimage?

Who will say to Me at the end of the road,

“I should like to live again because of You

and yet I find it sweet to die for You,”

I have called you to union.

My invitation is for every man, woman and child.

Yet few have listened.

Very few have responded to the call.

Oh my little ones, created by Me,

what power is yours!

Let your heart overflow with love and gratitude.

What would you find to love outside of Me?
