“Love” His Sacred Heart! As I write this blog this evening, it is the vigil of the Sacred Heart Feast Day. What makes me write this post tonight?
I would have to say it was my brother blogger – Greg Gillen’s latest post – “God’s Love Letter to You – Scripture is a Love Letter.” It was followed up by Mark Mallett’s beautifully written blog – “The Now Word – Reflections on Our Times” that he just posted Thursday, June 26th entitled “Life in The Apocalypse.”
And the third reason was once again a passage from my favorite devotional – “He and I” – words of Jesus to Gabrielle. So let’s begin our journey with Greg, Mark and Gabrielle and in the end it will point to “You and I.”
Love Letters
In Greg’s blog which you can find right here on Queen of Peace – he speaks of writing “love letters” to his wife while they were in college. He mentions, too, “that it was a common thing between courting couples.”
Greg certainly brought back the memories of my husband and myself writing letters to each other faithfully while he was away in the Army before we married. He brought all my letters back to me upon returning and I collated them in date order placing them in a beautifully treasured box.
Many, many years later, I remember sitting by the fireplace one snowy winter’s day with that “treasured box” upon my lap. As my husband laid on the couch in front of me listening to words that were written so long ago….they were “now” ever new as I read them in “our time.”
The Now
And so “The Now” brings me to Mark’s latest posting this evening – June 26, 2025. Mark wrote about “Love”….he not only wrote words but also recorded for us to listen to the wisdom that surely the Holy Spirit spoke to his heart. I can only come up with the words I used to title this blog –
“Love the Sacred Heart”….but also “Love” the hearts of those that are around you! Mark brings this message to us like a baseball player hitting a home run out into the park! He speaks of Satan’s greatest fear and I quote from Scripture – God’s Love Letters to us! This is just what Greg speaks about in his own posting.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength (and) You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31)
Mirror His Love
More than a month ago, I celebrated a special anniversary with the Lord on May 5th. I believe the Holy Spirit inspired me to take a little trip to a local thrift shop and there I found a beautiful mirror. I felt it surely was an “anniversary” gift from the Lord that spoke volumes to me in the silence of my heart without words.
He was “courting” me or “wooing” me into a deeper love but also a “calling” to love others with “His Love.”
I walked into the store and walked straight over to the “mirror” section! Like a little puppet, I picked up the mirror that seemed to be waiting for me! In a heartbeat, the mirror was paid for and brought out to my car. Arriving home, I immediately hung it right in the front vestibule of my home.
Pleased with my anniversary gift – it was the words that followed upon hanging it – that I will never forget –
“When you leave the house, look into this mirror and pray –
that everyone you meet this day will not see your own face
but will see “Mine” and “My Love for them.”
It’s All About Love
In Mark’s blog this evening he was telling us it’s about Love. He speaks of scripture in (Matthew 7:21-23) where Jesus tells us. . .
“that not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name? Then I will declare to them solemnly,
“I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.”
I don’t know about any of you who are reading this blog or read Mark’s but those words are pretty frightening! What’s missing here that we don’t get.
Well, the Lord seems to tell Gabrielle Bossis back on June 28, 1946 what it is!
Love, Rest in My Heart
“Darling child, rest your head on My heart and listen. . .You don’t listen enough, so how can you hear? And how can we have intimate conversations, not just mouth to mouth, but heart to heart?
Without any words, with sighs, with the soul’s breath. What beautiful intimacy, what utter purity!
And what joy that one gives Me who shows himself as he is, in the hope that his humility will bring Me the Glory and the Love that the world has weaned away from Me.
You, child, love Me. Love Me for others. Love Me for Me.”
Love His Sacred Heart – You and I
This very moment that you are reading this blog – look above. Look at this image or any of the images that were posted to draw your heart to “His.”
Tonight and all nights – rest in “His Heart” – “Sleep in His Heart” and I will add one more – “Wake up on His Heart.”
Love will expand in your heart to love not only Jesus more but all those around you! Not only family members, friends and neighbors but those that Jesus will send along your path so that they may see “His Face” in yours. A face that smiles with joy and doesn’t frown. Someone who truly “listens” to the sufferings of others and tries to help in ways that the Spirit leads. Let us be the “Face of Hope and Love” to someone that feels “unloved.”
We just celebrated the Feast of St. John the Baptist. He was told to decrease so Jesus might increase. We see that so many times on a priest’s ordination card but it should also be on our own calling card as well.
Jesus tells Gabrielle, “not by fear but my love; remember that! For it is love that waits upon love.”
Let our love wait upon His! We then will live in the peace that only Jesus can give and not the world. Yes, Greg – we will be “Love Letters” to the world signed by Jesus Christ – Our Lord and Savior.

One Response
Thank you for this beautiful message on the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is simple but so true…we love Jesus by loving each other. “Love” is the truth, the way and the life. Without love there is no truth, no way and no life. May all our hearts open to let “Love” in and to give it out to all.
