“Reign Over Us! Three little words! But “BIG WORDS” when you couple them with the images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Let us go to the online dictionary to define “reign.”
“Royal authority.”
“Exercise of sovereign power, as by a monarch.”
“Dominance of widespread influence.”
Yes, I’m writing this morning about the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Was I planning on writing a blog this morning at 8:30 am? Clearly no!
The Sacred Heart
This image above is what prompted this posting and also a question asked by my dear friend Katie the other day. She asked, “Anita, what prayers do you pray every morning?” It was a simple question and my first response was that I get my coffee and sit with Jesus. I wait on Him to direct my day and let Him take the lead on everything – even my prayers.
This morning was no different! I actually sat before Jesus in this picture and entered into my conversation with Him. I couldn’t help but think of what happened yesterday in the United States of America – yet again. Another school shooting at Apalachee High School situated in Winder in Barrow County – 50 miles from the city of Atlanta, Georgia. A 14 year old young boy went out on a shooting spree and killed two students, two teachers and wounded 9 others.
Hearts Broken
Summer had come to a close all too soon and school had begun. Instead of a new adventure in learning, the children were given a lesson of “sorrow and broken hearts.” They were not only the “receivers” of that pain, but all the adults – the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, grandparents, teachers, the first responders and the rest of us who mourned yet another school shooting. The list is endless of whose hearts were broken yesterday.
Why? Why does this have to happen over and over again I asked Jesus!
His Reply
His reply came on December 27, 1673 to a nun of the Visitation Monastery in Paray-le-Monial, France. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was gifted with the words and presence of Jesus Christ. Years later she wrote of the vision in the following words. . .words for us to take into our own hearts this very day:
St. Margaret Mary said the Lord gave her these words:
“My Divine Heart is so passionately in love with humanity that it can no longer contain within itself the flames of ardent love. It must pour them out through you and manifest itself to them with its precious treasures, which contain all the graces which they need to be saved.”
Arms Open for Us
What is Jesus saying to our own hearts? We live in a “loveless world” where not only children but adults do not feel loved. Why? It’s just not the words, “I love you,” but the actions. The power of our love and our faith can move not only mountains but hearts.
It was this morning that I found the prayer posted below. The prayer card was one that was slipped into a book as a marker….and I decided to pray it.
What struck me as well was that the picture on the prayer card was the same image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that I was praying before.
Jesus was surely leading me in this prayer to “post this blog” and invite you to dedicate your own “heart” to the “Sacred Heart.” It’s an exchange of hearts and in that exchange He will give us “His Heart” to love.
If we have “His Heart” – we can love better, serve better and change this “loveless world” into the world that God created it to be. A world of faith, hope and love and most of all peace with each other.
Dedication to the Sacred Heart
Loving Jesus, Redeemer of the world, I am Yours and Yours I wish to be. To bind myself to You even more closely I kneel before You today and offer myself to Your Most Sacred Heart.
Praise to You, my Savior and my King.
Have mercy on all who have never known You and on all who reject You and refuse to obey You: gentle Lord, draw them to Yourself.
Praise to You, my Savior and my King.
Reign over the faithful who have never left You, reign over those who have squandered their inheritance, the prodigal children who now are starving; bring them back to the Father’s house.
Praise to You, my Savior and my King.
Reign over those who are misled by error or divided by discord. Hasten the day when, one in faith and truth, we shall be one flock with You, the one Shepherd. Give to Your Church freedom and peace, and to all nations justice and order. Make the earth resound from pole to pole with a single cry:
Praise to You, my Savior and my King.
Praise to the Divine Heart that gained my salvation; glory and honor be His forever and ever.
Amen
Our Prayers Count
I would like to end this blog off with words that Jesus gave to Gabrielle Bossis on December 22, 1939. “He and I,” is a favorite book of mine that I quote from frequently. Gabrielle was privileged and blessed to have conversation with Jesus in the years between 1936 up to 1950 when she died.
December 22, 1939
“Pray a great deal for others.
Pray for bigger things – for those who govern, for missions, for nations.
Pray for My Kingdom to come everywhere.”
Reign Over Us
HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
LET HIM DISPEL THE DARKNESS WITH HIS LOVE!
HE IS INVITING US RIGHT NOW!
TO COME TO HIM!
TO RECEIVE HIS LOVE!
AND THEN TO SPREAD THAT LOVE THROUGHOUT OUR DAY!
LET US LISTEN TO SEE!
WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
REIGN OVER US
MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
OVER US
AND THE WHOLE WORLD

So beautiful
Love And peace are the answer
God’s Love for sure…..we love because He loved us first! Amen!
Peace – a fruit of that Love!
Amen!!
We live in a very broken world that is in such desperate need of Our Lord. Let us include a prayer for God to be placed back in our schools. For children to be protected by his Sacred Heart through daily prayer in each classroom. As a former teacher, I truly believe that the hedge of protection has been knocked down. I used to bless my classroom (all desks, windows, doorway, etc…) with Holy Water each morning. It gave me peace in my heart to know that my little ones and myself were protected. I even had pictures in my classroom of Jesus, Mary and many Saints (of course, St. Faustina) and never had an issue with an administrator. I taught in a public school!
Thank you, Anita for your beautiful words! I love the prayer. “Praise to You my Savior and my King!!!”
Jesus, We Trust in YOU!!

Thank you Debbie for the sharing of a “Catholic teacher’s point of view” and the caring for your student’s safety under the protection of God.
Amen!
Thank you, Anita, for this beautiful prayer and blog in this most crucial time for our nation and the world. The lack of love is the lack of God Who is Love. We must pray for the conversion of souls…for “the conversion of the masses “ as Mother Angelica has said. May those who have been blinded and deafened by the evil one open their eyes and ears to God’s truth and seek the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
We place all in His Heart…especially those who lost loved ones as well as the wounded.
May our country be healed interiorly and exteriorly. Amen!
Love each other with Jesus’ heart❣️See Jesus in our spouses, our children, our neighbors, our world.
Thank you Anita, for sharing God’s truth. Your messages help us to focus and are so critically important…especially during these times.
Thank you and God Bless You!
Grateful for your comments – God Bless You!
