The Tears of Our Lady

As we enter into Holy Week of 2024, I can think of no better subject to write about than the “Tears of Our Lady.” Can you imagine experiencing what Our Blessed Mother went through as her innocent son was dragged, beaten and tortured? And then to be nailed to a cross for 6 hours to die as she stood below him in silence.

Plain and simply – I cannot imagine!  I just cannot!  But what I can do this coming Holy Week is to keep her company. I can console her with my presence, with my prayers and with my love.  In doing so, I will do the same for her son and my Lord Jesus Christ who died for love of me and my salvation.

How will I do that?  Simple…..and so can you….

You are being invited into this “Act of Love” for the Mother of God and her Son through this blog right now entitled “The Tears of Our Lady.”

Tears of Our Lady Rosary

The “Tears of Our Lady” is a Church-approved devotion revealed to Sister Amalia Aguirre (1930) – and is especially powerful against the demonic.

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Sr. Amalia in 1930 to bestow upon her a new devotion.  Our Lady would tell Sister the following:

“This is the Rosary of Tears.  My Son wants to honor me in a special way through these invocations, and so, He will grant all graces that are begged for the sake of my tears.  I am the Mother of the Divine Mercy!  I cry before my Son for the sins of all men as I am always interceding before the Throne of the Most High for poor sinners.  When a sinner is rebellious and does not want to hear you, come to my feet and ask through my Blessed Tears.  If it is a soul of good will, you will obtain from God the grace for this soul not to be lost.

Being Mother of all men and seeing many of them lost, I cry for those who, being hardened, run the risk of precipitating themselves into hell.  This rosary will obtain the conversion of many sinners, especially those possessed by the devil.  Through this rosary the devil will be defeated and the power of hell will be destroyed.  Get ready for this great battle.”

The Medal of Our Lady of Tears

Again in 1930, the Blessed Mother appeared to Sister Amalia to reveal the Medal of Our Lady of Tears.

This medal is to increase the humility of the faithful and to serve in a special way for the conversion of atheists, heretics, communists and, as with the Rosary of Tears, those possessed by the devil.

On the medal are represented the virtues of meekness and humility, symbolized by image of Jesus Ecce Homo, with hands bound, and the inscription, By Thy Divine Meekness, O Jesus Bound, save the world from the error which threatens it.

On the other side of the medal, the image of Our Sorrowful Mother, Our Lady of Tears, with the inscription O Virgin Most Sorrowful, thy Tears have destroyed the Infernal Empire.

In 1934 Sr. Amalia’s Bishop, Msgr. Count Franciscus von Campos Barreto, approved the devotion.  He gave an Imprimatur to the Rosary of Tears and recommended use of the Medal, saying it had already worked innumerable miracles.

The Prayers of the Tears of Our Lady Rosary

This particular rosary can be prayed on the rosary beads for the “Seven Sorrows” and so I have given the special prayers posted below for your convenience.

I have also posted a link below to order the Tears of Our Lady Rosary and the pamphlet that accompanies it.

The rosary has 7 groups of 7 – just as The Seven Sorrows Rosary –

Each group begins with a large bead and then followed by 7 smaller ones.

3 beads follow as the 3 Hail Marys in the regular Rosary at the beginning of the chaplet with the large medal instead of a crucifix.

Beginning Prayer:
On Main Medal of Chaplet…..

O Crucified Jesus!  We fall at Your feet and offer you the tears of Her, who with deep compassionate love accompanies You on Your sorrowful Way of the Cross.  Grant, O Good Master, that we take to heart the lessons which the tears of Your most holy Mother teach us, so that we may fulfill Your holy will on earth, that we may be worthy to praise and exalt You in Heaven for all eternity. Amen

Seven Large Beads

O Jesus look, upon the tears of Her who loved You most on earth,

And who loves You most ardently in Heaven.

Seven Small Beads

O Jesus, hear our prayers,

For the sake of Your most holy Mother’s tears.

Three small beads near medal

O Jesus, look upon the tears of Her who loved You most on earth,

And who loves You most ardently in Heaven.

Closing Prayer on Main Medal

O Mary, Mother of love, sorrow, and mercy, we beseech you to unite your prayers with ours so that Jesus, your Divine Son, to Whom we turn, may hear our petitions in the name of your maternal tears, and grant us, not only the favors we now ask, but the crown of everlasting life.

Amen

Showing Our Compassion

St. John of the Cross tells us that at the end of our life, we shall be judged on love.  Scripture tells us in John 3:16 that “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Let us love this week like we’ve never loved before.  Let us console both the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.  Let us, too, shed tears for our own sins and the sins of the world! In doing so, we will make reparation bringing the Light of Christ to a darkened world.

Let us hold Her hand as She holds the hand of Her Son. Let us walk the road to Calvary this week with Jesus and His Mother….praying the “Tears of Our Lady Rosary.”  She tells Sr. Amalia – Her Son wants to Honor Her this way through these invocations.  Let it be so this Holy Week of 2024.

“As the sun surpasses all the stars in lustre, so the sorrows of Mary

surpass all the tortures of the martyrs.”

St. Basil

  1. As you wrote, Anita, I also “ cannot imagine “ the sufferings of Our Blessed Mother. Thank you for offering a way we can console Her Sorrowful Heart and the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and make reparation for the sins of the world.

  2. I truly admired the work you’ve put in here. The design is refined, your authored material stylish, however, you seem to have acquired some trepidation about what you intend to present next. Undoubtedly, I’ll revisit more regularly, similar to I have nearly all the time, in the event you sustain this rise.
